Andrew McCormick is the founder/Managing Member of Cottonwood Capital Management and directs all trading and operational activities for the company.
Prior to Cottonwood, Mr. McCormick worked within BlackRock’s Alternative Advisors division where he managed the operations for approximately $5 billion across 65 open- and closed-end funds. He worked on the launch teams for several renewable energy investment funds, an aviation fund, and multiple custom mandates for various institutional clients.
Prior to BlackRock, Mr. McCormick founded Atlas Ratings, a FCM ratings agency. Atlas provided risk solutions to hedge funds, utility companies and proprietary trading firms by enabling them to better gauge the financial and operational health of FCMs. While with Atlas, he also assisted Senator Baucus and the Senate Agricultural Committee in their investigation to failed FCMs. Prior to Atlas, Mr. McCormick was the Managing Member of MKC Global Investments and directed trading for the MKC Global Fund, LP. The fund traded a basket of global commodities, currencies and financial markets in accordance to a proprietary trend following strategy.
Andrew attended Montana State University, has been a registered EMT, hazardous materials operations certified, and a combat-certified fire fighter. He is a husband, a father, has a yellow lab (Beasley), and lives in Seattle.
